About this role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax preparation, bookkeeping, and low-level audit work. This role requires excellent analytical skills, a deep understanding of tax regulations, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with audit processes.

  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, ensure compliance with tax regulations, and provide tax planning and advisory services.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and reconciliation of bank statements.
  • Assist with audit work, including preparing audit schedules, gathering supporting documentation, and collaborating with external auditors.
  • Analyze GL data and other information for identification and calculation of tax differences, maintain supporting schedules, and prepare necessary journal entries for income tax accounting adjustments.
  • Organize financial data for the completion of consolidated federal and state returns, calculate state apportionment factors, and utilize income tax compliance software to produce final returns.
  • Compile, analyze, and report financial data, create periodic financial reports, and assist management with budgets and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, local, state, and federal accounting and financial regulations, and provide data to managers, investors, and other entities.
  • Oversee the work of tax accountants, ensure quality in tax operations, and perform end-to-end individual tax returns (ITRs) for complex clients.
  • Proactively adapt to changes in priorities, workflows, and client needs, while ensuring high-quality results.
  • Independently seek guidance or feedback from the manager when facing challenges, while demonstrating the ability to operate with minimal supervision.

About you

  • 3+ years of experience in preparing and reviewing U.S. federal, state, and local tax returns.
  • 2+ years of experience in team leadership, including overseeing, mentoring, and reviewing the work of tax accountants.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with advanced Excel skills.
  • Experienced with accounting and tax software, including: QuickBooks (Certified ProAdvisor), ADP Payroll, & UltraTax
  • Candidate must have an experience with Audit software such as CaseWare and CCH ProSystem fx Engagement
  • Proficient in end-to-end preparation of individual tax returns (ITRs) for complex clients.
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. tax forms, including: 570L, 1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065, 568, 540, and 990
  • Skilled in analyzing general ledger (GL) data and other financial information to:
    • Identify and calculate tax differences
    • Maintain supporting schedules
    • Prepare journal entries for income tax accounting adjustments
  • Candidate must have a Hands-on experience in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Payroll Preparation and Processing, and Bank reconciliations
  • Experience in Bookkeeping and audit work is a strong advantage.
